I chose to vote for happy birthday pic, because it is technically the most tough photo to be shot with perfection amongst the four. Also for a photo to be good it is to be composed well, with good background and all the elements in the frame to be shot perfectly. in the happy birthday photo, there is good composition as the photographer has planned for this photo and timed it well also.
Well my second choice would have been Wisdom and The Future cas it has high emotional value and pictures generations of humanity.

Love the other-worldly quality of "Dancers." Great juxtapositions - the jutting chin and the round hair; the dark, unseeing eyes and expressionless stares; the fairy wings against the ruddy background. Their bodies suggest movement while their faces suggest stillness and detachment. They look more like dolls than dancers, and I’m immediately drawn to read the caption and find out more about this surreal image. Great job!

Eastern Market gets my vote...one of the ONLY photos in this bunch that does not look like a studio still. Not that I don’t like a studio still, just that I appreciate the complexity of life as it naturally happens. I can’t help looking at that photo and thinking, wow...what is happening there? Is that a present day Martin Luther King Jr.? Is it a husband who has been kicked out of his home? Is it a father trying to figure out how he will feed his family? How did his day begin and how will it finish? So thought provoking...well done.

Based on technical skill, you gotta go with "Happy Birthday." Based on sincerity and how genuine a picture is, you gotta go with "Eastern Market." The others are just too cliche or done so often that I’m indifferent to them.

"My Little Sister" does two things well. Using the blown hair, it transforms what would usually be a cliche into something unexpected. It also invites us to look at hair differently. Take a closer look at the marvelous geometry of arc and line she’s composed here.

Of the four pictures, I believe the Happy Birthday photo does show more of the technicals needed in judging a photo worthy of an award. The details, which are showing up in a photo taken at night are great.
Sometimes one must judge on merit rather then emotion.
