There aren’t that many great BBQ places in the DC area, but Bubba’s in Falls Church is good. They have hushpuppies. Any BBQ joint with hushpuppies is authentic.

willards in chantilly has great ribs and pork, and carolina-style sauce.
levi’s port cafe down in navy yard (and levi’s in oxon hill) has great nc-style bbq, the owners are from cary. its the real deal. not quite as good as wilburs or the old smithfield’s bbq joints but nonetheless, delicious. great mac n cheese too.
woodlands is awful.

Dixie Bones in Woodbridge. They have the best sauces.

Dales Smokehouse in Indian Head, MD..about 40 minutes. In southern MD there are slews of great smokehouses-its one of the area’s trademarks.

Ew @ Rocklands is all I have for this. I eat there quite often since it’s right near my house... Simply not very good. Their sauce is disgusting, their meat is often terrible. I wish we had more options here in Arlington; Rocklands doesn’t even come close to cutting it.

Rocklands please. Mcds boneless pork rib sandwich is better than anything Rocklands has.
VA Barbeque in Woodbridge/Manassas, Willards in Chantilly is passable and there are a couple BBq stands on RT 7 west of Leesburg. Capitol Q is awful.

ROCKLANDS!!! I moved to DC from South Carolina, and Rocklands has been the only place I have found BBQ with that unmistakable wood smoke flavor. My favorite by FAR.

Urban BBQ, it’s not even close. This Rockville gem has a unique menu but doesn’t skimp on the classics - make sure you get the beef brisket and the pulled pork. The cornbread is amazing and the fries make for a great side...

Capitol Q near Matchbox is the absolute best! Love their spicy brisket

If you can make the trip up 270,...The Black Hog in Frederick, MD has THE BEST around. It’s no joke!
