December Photo Contest: The Finalists

Our judges picked the finalists in this month’s togetherness-themed contest. We need you to pick a winner.

Well, readers, we asked you to give us the warm-and-fuzzies with this month’s togetherness-themed contest, and you sure delivered. Today, we chose our favorites—now it’s up to you to select a winner.

Check out the finalists’ gallery (click here to see it in a new window), then take the poll at the bottom of the page to vote for your favorite. The photo with the most votes at noon on Thursday, December 31, will be the winner. It’ll appear in the February issue of The Washingtonian.

Remember, it’s only one vote per person, so play fair. If we notice voting irregularities for any photo, we reserve the right to disqualify it from the contest.

Good luck to this month’s finalists, and happy voting, readers!

*To help keep this contest fair, we've elected to use an IP address-based poll. This means that if you are voting from an office or network setting, not everybody will be able to vote. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we hope you'll encourage coworkers to vote from their home computers.

The Grimes brothers say with this one picture, what most people cannot express in words....that I’ll be there to share the victories and the defeats with you and be a shoulder to lean on. Moe Grimes has been that for a lot of people over the years and the blood flows the same through these two brothers veins................

Best picture hands down, Family love is the best kind of love.

Great photo.

I could not be more proud of these two young men, they are truly the light of my life. The other pictures are winners but I have to cast my vote for my Grandson’s, Rocky and AJ, this picture truly captures the real brothers they are and the true compassion they share with each other. Congrateulations to each of those that were choosen to be the finalist your pictures are all first place winners, I am proud that Brothers in Arms was choosen to dispalyed with your selections.

I agree with everyone else that voted for the Grimes brothers! What a special picture and definitely worth winning the contest! Moe, thanks for sending that email again because I hadn’t seen it the first time and it gave me the opportunity to vote for the "boys".

I really loved the photo of the Grimes brothers because it shows such sweet human emotion. The love between two brothers is not easily captured on film. I can see and feel their affection for each other in this photo.

The boys are just as together in person as they are in this photo -- Great pic!!!!

A great photo of the Grime brothers.

I am partial to the photo of the Grimes Brothers. I am the teacher of one of the young boys, and this family couldn’t be more about togetherness. It is such a beautiful and touching photo! Definitely has my vote!

This picture has so much meaning, of sportmanship, togetherness, compassion, family. So many, I agree we need more like this these days. You will not capture a moment like this very often. Congradulations to the Grimes Brothers you are winners regardless of the outcome.

Love the picture of the two Grimes’ brothers, whether he won or lost the game the photo is a winner.

I think the "Daddy & Me" photo is the most touching. How often is that first moment of togetherness captured on film? The special time when a son has written his first book about his Love for his Dad and then he has the opportunity to read the book with the one who is honored. You can see how meaningful this moment was through their expressions! There is only one time that can be called the First Time! How special that this family was able to capture such a genuine moment between a Father and Son!
