The Tweet Beat: The Best Congressional Tweets of the Week

By Sophie Gilbert

Grinch Grinch Grinch. In case you were thinking of enjoying the holiday season, the GOP are here to remind you what a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad government we have, and how our children and our children’s children are all DOOMED FOREVER. Which is their right and all, but it gets depressing after a while. Not to mention confusing.

In other news, John McCain (who is rapidly building a reputation for himself as The Most Outraged Man On Twitter) is sticking up for his pal Joe Lieberman who is being “viciously attacked” for his yo-yoing political affiliations- sorry, “principles.” Claire McCaskill gives us all some comic relief, Frank Pallone has been reading too many detective novels, Chellie Pingree is stuck in fog, Earl Blumenauer has been baking, Kevin Brady obviously doesn’t watch Monday Night Football and John Shimkus outdoes himself with the most questionable biblical quote ever. And Joe Wilson is live-tweeting the birth of his granddaughter. Bless.

Yes, Senator McCaskill is good with her jokes. The Mark Twain legacy (a fellow-Missourian) a hundred years later?
