Our Pick for the Weekend: Buzzed-About Bands at the Black Cat

If you can't make it to Friday night's Arcade Fire show, you should head out to the Black Cat (1811 14th St., NW; 202-667-7960) on Saturday, because you’ll have the chance to see what some are calling DC’s own Arcade Fire. Le Loup has been around only a few months but is garnering more buzz than any other band I can remember. The seven-member group (including one French horn) plays swelling, experimental indie rock. So go early to check out Le Loup—the evening’s opening act—and stick around for Jukebox the Ghost and Exit Clov, the two other excellent bands on the bill. $10, 9pm.

Le Loup is just one of the recommendations for things to do this weekend. For more, including salsa lessons, a fun flower mart, or a PostSecret book signing, check out Where & When Weekend, our weekly guide to the best of things going on around town this weekend.

Also, the time stamp on some of our comments is wacky, so they get out of order...Sorry about that!

Posted by: Catherine Andrews,

Sorry, Max - comments are held for approval till I can get through and set them online, so sometimes there's a delay if I'm at lunch, etc. But anyway, thanks for commenting! Can't wait for the band's show.

Posted by: Catherine Andrews,

Le Loup has easily become my favorite band on the DC scene. As a booker and local music fanatic, I can honestly say they're worth the price of admission. With Jukebox (and Exit Clov, I guess,) on the bill, it's going to be a great show.

HOOOOOWWWLLLLL!!!

Posted by: Dan,

My last comment didn't post:

"My friend just teased me for what seemed like an Exit Clov diss. I don't know them very well, only seeing them a few years ago and only remembering a pretty awesome version of a Radiohead song, but from that alone, I'd say they must be pretty special. Sorry for the confusion."

Posted by: Max,

Oops. it went through twice. who's the dummy? this guy.

Posted by: Max,

After being picked on by my friend, I will say that I don't know Exit Clov's music too well, only seeing them a few years ago with a fuzzy memory. I have been assured that they are wonderful and am really looking forward to seeing their set. I do remember them doing a pretty awesome cover of a Radiohead song, so it should be great!
