The Mates of State show tonight at the Black Cat—for which tickets are still available— got us thinking: What are some other great music dynamic duos? Modern day acts like Outkast, the White Stripes and Tegan and Sara, as well as golden oldies like Simon & Garfunkel and Sonny and Cher immediately come to mind, but what are some less obvious examples? Tell us in the comments, and we’ll add your suggestions throughout the day.
We’ve started off the playlist with a couple of songs. Enjoy, and don’t forget to drop us a line in the comments.

What a shame that Flat Duo Jets don’t top the list. They had more soul, power and drive than anyone else on the list, and Dexter Romweber continues to play real rock n roll without hardly any recognition. Don’t believe me? Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BvKB-eOR9M
