Partying With Oscar: Where to Watch the Academy Awards—or Just Catch Up on Nominees

The Academy Awards are just a few days away. Assuming you’ve caught up on all the best-picture nominees and cast your predictions (go, Mickey Rourke!), here are some viewing parties where you can watch the event. We’ve also included a couple of places screening nominated films in some of the more obscure categories.

Oscars Party! Who: Washington Film Institute. Where: Goethe-Institut. When: Sunday, February 22. Time: 7 PM. Price: $35 in advance, $50 at the door; to purchase tickets, click here. Details: Open bar, hors d’oeuvres, red-carpet photos, contests.
Oscars Night Happy Hour Where: Helix Lounge. When: Sunday, February 22. Time: 5 PM. Price: Free. Details: Themed drinks and food, such as the Golden Man (margarita with a Grand Marnier float), the Slumdog Dollar-aire ($2 PBR), and the half-price Benjamin Button Burger. SCREENINGS Where: National Archives. When: Wednesday, February 18, through Sunday, February 22. Time: For showtimes, click here. Price: Free; tickets are distributed an hour prior to the screenings. Details: Films nominated for the following categories will be screened: documentary feature, documentary short, live-action short, animated short.
Where: Landmark E Street Cinema. When: Tuesday, February 17, through Thursday, February 26. Time: For showtimes, click here. Price: $10. Details: Films nominated for the following categories will be screened: live-action short, animated short.
Where: Area AMC theaters. When: Saturday, February 21. Time: 10:30 AM to 9:45 PM. Price: $30.
