Quirky dates can be fun, but sometimes it’s the classic that can lead to a really great night. Head out for a classic dinner-and-a-movie date in Silver Spring, with a bit of sweet dessert at the end of it all.
Start at the elegant AFI Silver movie theater (8633 Colesville Road) to see The Namesake, a cross-cultural family saga about an Indian family moving from Calcutta to New York City that manages to be both moving and funny. 7 pm, $9.25
Then stroll over to Taste of Morocco (8661 Colesville Road), where you can get both excellent and affordable Moroccan cuisine, like chicken bestilla, and entertainment in the form of a belly dancer.
End your night on a sweet note with a cupcake from the Silver Spring location of Cake Love (935 Ellsworth Drive). Just make sure to get there before their weekend closing time of 11 pm.
