On the lookout for summer fun that won't bust the bank? Check out a free concert by the NSO and free films on the Mall.

Tomorrow (July 13), The National Symphony Orchestra presents a free concert of music by Tchaikovsky—including the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin and selections from Swan Lake and the “Little Russian” Symphony—at 7:30 pm. Then, starting Monday, July 16, it's finally time for Screen on the Green.

One of the area’s biggest outdoor film festivals, Screen on the Green attracts a crowd. Fans stake out spots early, bring blankets and picnic dinners, and take in Hollywood classics with the Capitol’s illuminated dome as a backdrop.

The five-Monday festival starts July 16 with the romantic comedy Annie Hall starring Woody Allen and Diane Keaton; The Thing From Another World, a 1951 sci-fi thriller, shows July 23; and Audrey Hepburn plays the heroine in distress opposite villain Alan Arkin in 1967’s Wait Until Dark on July 30. Screenings continue in August with All the King’s Men and Casablanca.
