St Patrick’s Episcopal Day School is hosting "gifts for good" on Saturday, Dec 1st (11 am - 3 pm, Upper School Common Room, 4700 Whitehaven Parkway, NW, (off of MacArthur Blvd). Join the community of St. Patrick’s in making the “Gifts for Good Market” a holiday shopping destination on Saturday, December 1. The market offers a variety of tax-deductible gift options that will benefit those in need in the Washington region and around the world.
In addition, it is a fun and festive way to shop for kids and adults – kids can make crafts and holiday cards as well as learn more about organizations that serve those in need.
Some of the “gifts” available for purchase include:
• Two sets of school uniforms for a needy child in India ($15) through Global Giving;
• Helping an uninsured family in Washington get medical care (Community of Hope);
• A one-month nanny sponsorship ($50) or a one-month child sponsorship ($25) through Half the Sky, which was created in order to enrich the lives and enhance the prospects for orphaned children in China;
• Provide entertainment, education and family activities to seriously ill children and their families through Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation;
• A goat or a sheep for families in developing countries ($120) through Heifer International;
• Adoption of an endangered animal or assisting with environmental repair through World Wildlife Fund;
• Help improve the nutrition, health and well-being of children and families in the District through DC Hunger Solutions;
• A year of hot, nutritious lunches ($25) for a student at St. Patrick’s sister school in Haiti, or the ability for a student to attend the school ($75).
