Sidewalk Style: Alisa Shteynshleyger

In this week’s Sidewalk Style, we stop a stylish spectator at DC’s Fashion Week shows.

By Rachel Cothran

Alisa Shteynshleyger, 25
Does marketing for Paris Hilton

What are you wearing?
“A Marc Jacobs cardigan and shirt, Tsubi jeans, and Loeffler Randall boots.”

How would you describe your style?
“Eccentric.”

Favorite designers?
“Marni, Loeffler Randall, Chloé, Stella McCartney.”

What do you think about style in Washington? And what do you think about the show tonight?
“I grew up here and now I live in New York. DC has a bad rap for not being fashionable, but fashion here is informed by the city . . . and DC is generally conservative.”

Favorite designer here tonight?
“Tsyndyma! She is a friend of mine, and her clothes are very beautiful and wearable.”

Rachel says:
My favorite thing about her outfit is the sweater. I love that she pairs the bold stripes of the sweater with a shirt that has smaller-scale, pale stripes. It adds a lot of visual interest and playful texture to the look. Her red nails add a punch of unexpected color.

What do you think of Alisa's look? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

She lacks a mirror, and/or honest friends, as evidenced by those jeans. That colour and cut of jean makes her look a solid 10 kilos heavier than she is, doesn’t matter that they’re Tsubi.

This is my favourite Sidewalk Style yet. I’m genuinely surprised by the other reactions - I think she pulls off the high-waisted jeans extremely well. Too bad she works in new york - we could use more of her style here.

That jean really does look like a mom jean on her. You need to be model-thin and model-tall to pull of a jean like that, especially in that color and texture.

she looks cute, but i can’t stand high-waisted jeans. 99% of people don’t look good in them, unless maybe they’re wide-legged. and is that a stain on her jean leg??
