Monday, November 2
Hobnob with Redskins, Capitals, and more than 30 of the city’s top chefs at the March of Dimes’ Signature Chefs Auction at 6:30. The evening, emceed by WJLA anchor Leon Harris, features a series of live and silent auctions, food and wine tastings, and hotel and weekend giveaways inside the Ritz-Carlton in DC’s West End (1150 22nd St., NW). Tuesday, November 3
Join food writer Gail Forman at Blue Ridge for the first installment in a three-part series, “What’s for Lunch? Sustainable Foods That Sustain You at Lunch.” Over lunch, she’ll discuss sustainability with a focus on pigs and pork. The following session, at Zola on November 10, features a trip to a nearby historic “eco-gastro” restaurant. The final lunch, on November 17 at Sonoma, has a focus on Alaskan fisheries. Wednesday, November 4
Don’t know the difference between Chardonnay and Chardonel? Train your palate by signing up for the first part of GiraMondo Wine Adventures' Wine Class for Beginners at the Whittemore House (1526 New Hampshire Ave., NW). The class will teach participants how to properly pour bottles, recognize aromas, and understand pairings. The class, $49 per person, runs from 6:30 to 8. Tickets are available here.
Thursday, November 5
Thanksgiving may be three Thursdays away, but it’s never too early to start practicing your recipes. As part of Zola Wine + Kitchen’s (505 Ninth St., NW; 202-639-9463 ) Thanksgiving Series, there’s a class on dressings and stuffings, with lessons on making a killer corn dressing, traditional stuffing, and oyster dressing. The class begins at 6:30. Tickets ($50) can be purchased here.
Friday, November 6
Pack a comfortable folding chair in your shopping cart, because as soon as you’re done picking up fresh produce at Eastern Market, the Rock as Ammunition benefit concert for Girls Rock DC! will run at the emporium’s new North Hall (225 Seventh St., SE) from 7 to midnight. In keeping with the venue’s theme, the event features free munchies and a cash bar. Four local bands are slated to perform, and proceeds from the $20 tickets, available here, go to charity.
Saturday, November 7
Pop bottles of Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, and an assortment of other high-end bubbles at the French Embassy’s tenth annual Champagne tasting, held at La Maison Française (4101 Reservoir Rd., NW). The tasting, which begins at 7, will be accompanied by food from a host of local restaurants. Tickets ($125) will help fund various projects hosted by the French-American Cultural Foundation. Sunday, November 8
Whether you’re a professional wedding caterer, a parent of young children, or just someone who has a sweet tooth, L’Academie de Cuisine’s Advanced Techniques in Cake Design workshop has something for you. Led by Colette Peters, owner of Colette’s Cakes, the four-hour hands-on class at the school’s Gaithersburg campus (16006 Industrial Dr.) will cover embossing, crimping, drapery, and more. Students may bring their own tools and cutter sets, though basic fondant and gum-paste tools will be provided. The class starts at 10 and costs $295. To register, call 301-670-8670.

Could you possibly publish this on Fridays? When you post it the same day as an event that happens that evening for which we must purchase tickets, that’s a little to late for some of us...thanks!
