Drinks We Love: Basil Lemontini at Poste

By Sara Levine

I tend to be wary of cocktails with cute “-tini” suffixes, but Poste’s Basil Lemontini is a delicious exception. Basil-infused house-made lemonade is mixed with Ketel One Citroen and a splash of sparkling wine for a light, refreshing drink that still packs a little punch. Served in a frosty glass, it’s the perfect libation for a summer evening on the restaurant’s shady patio.

Poste, 555 Eighth St., NW; 202-783-6060; Postebrasserie.com.

Agreed. I went to Poste for happy hour, but this full-price drink ($10) sounded so delicious that I had to order it!

I’ve had the Lemontini, and at least for the time I sampled it, there was nary a hint of basil, and the entire thing was not good. The Lavendar Margarita, on the other hand, lives up to its premise.

They also make a great lavendar margarita if you don’t want to say anything with "tini"....

how much does it cost? would be nice if poste would put some of their drinks on happy hour pricing.
