Splurge
The Ray Club chair from Design Within Reach features a rounded back and high arm rests. The retro style is modeled after chairs from 18th century gentlemen’s clubs, but the caramel color is versatile and could complement anything from French country to rustic decor. The Ray Club chair hasn’t yet arrived at area stores, so call ahead to make sure it’s in stock. Price: $2,650.
Design Within Reach has locations in Adams Morgan, Bethesda, and Georgetown.
Steal
IKEA’s Vreta chair sports a similar style for $479. The soft back and cushions make this piece comfy and classic, and the brownish red hue adds a nice punch of color. The Vreta chair is also available in black, dark brown, and ivory. You can order it online or at any IKEA store.
IKEA has locations in College Park and Woodbridge. www.ikea.com
