Splurge vs. Steal: Coffee Tables
Between picture books, remote controls, and decor accents, coffee tables invite clutter. Pack-rats (and those determined to be neater in the new year) will love these sleek wooden coffee tables which double as storage cubes. Perhaps 2009 will be the year you finally keep the living room tidy.

Splurge
The Asti Oak coffee table ($627.90) from Z Futons and Furniture in Alexandria has a glass top, which balances out the heavy black oak and adds a contemporary twist. The piece measures 45.5”x 31.5”x 14.25” and is also available in white oak.
Z Futons and Furniture, 5620 General Washington Dr., Alexandria; 703-941-5042.
Steal
Target’s Venice coffee table is similar to the Asti and at $199.99, it’s a third the price. Like the Asti, the side paneling helps mask what’s inside. The Venice coffee table is made of wood composite and measures 48”x 24”x 16”. It can be ordered online at target.com.
Target has locations in Virginia, Maryland and DC.
