There are lots and lots of bargains to be had today, as stores try to move inventory to make room for next season.
Macy’s has hundreds of pieces on sale, and my favorite is the Calvin Klein City Nightstand. The $529 price tag (down from $750!) seems high to me for a nightstand, but I could see it as a good addition to an entryway or even as a desk.
At Urban Outfitters, this Katanoi Wood Bench could also be a coffee table or a great place to throw your clothes instead of on the floor. It’s on sale for $99.
Gump’s has the beautiful Cream Alcott Chair on sale for a still-pricey $969.99. I love that it is tailored but also has a little bit of rock and roll with the nailheads.
Bloomingdales is having a big one-day home sale, and if you are in the market for some new cookware, get thee to the Le Crueset goodies. These pans last forever and look great just sitting on the counter. The 10 inch skillet is down from $175 to $89.99, and the Dutch oven is down from $295 to $139.99.
Just for today, Ikea has discounted the Henriksdal barstool from $109.99 to $39.99. They are only two per household, so bring reinforcements if you need a set.

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
