Viva Terra is one of my very favorite online shops, because you can always find the kind of pieces that guests notice and ask about when they are in your home. I’m not always crazy about the prices, though, which is why I am beyond excited about the number of items they have on sale now. My wish list includes the set of two Bamboo Counter Stools, now $149, and the Recycled Metal Globe, which would have a big impact over a small dinning table. The globe is now 30 percent off, at $118.
In honor of Memorial Day, Design Within Reach has discounted many products by 15 percent. My favorite is the striking Cubitec Shelving. You can make these unusual shelves into any shape you like, creating an entertainment center or a place to store books. You can pick up a set in orange for $200, and the shipping is free.
Macy’s is knocking an extra 10 percent off of all of the furniture items already on sale. The Vice Versa leather ottoman would make a fabulous coffee table, particularly if it was mixed in with furniture of other styles. It’s down from $499 to $349.
Plenty of good deals are to be had at CB2, including these happy-looking patio chairs, which come in three colors and are now on sale for $69.95, down from $99.95. More>> Open House Blog | Homes | Real Estate

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
