This magnificent eight-bedroom, nine-bath Beaux Arts home is in Kalorama, one of Washington’s most prestigious residential neighborhoods. Jeff Mauer of Coldwell Banker gave us a tour of the recently renovated home, which was originally built in the 1930s.

Main Level Through the double front doors, we walk into a black-and-white-marble foyer with ceilings more than ten feet tall, views of Rock Creek Park, a crystal chandelier, and a wood-burning fireplace. Past the foyer is a formal dining room with two more crystal chandeliers. The custom library has built-in bookcases, an original wood-burning fireplace, and doors that lead to a patio and rear garden. The gourmet kitchen has white SieMatic cabinetry and honed-granite countertops. Its top-of-the-line appliances include dual Miele dishwashers, a five-burner gas cooktop, espresso maker, Viking oven and microwave, and a Marvel dual temperature-controlled wine cooler.
Second Level The spacious master bedroom has French doors that open to a large balcony overlooking a rear garden. The dressing room is fitted with Italian custom-designed cabinetry; the beautiful master bath has Carrera marble floors, mahogany dual vanities, and a glass shower with a rain shower and large soaking tub. There are two other bedrooms on the second floor, one with an original wood-burning fireplace.
Third Level The top floor has four more bedrooms and three full baths.
Lower Level The family/media room is pre-wired for a home-theater system and has another original wood-burning fireplace, a wet bar with custom cabinetry, a Bosch microwave, and a Marvel refrigerator. There’s also a full bath and laundry room, which has two sets of Whirlpool washers and dryers.
