Where & When: Fashion Edition

We’re positively excited over this week’s influx of crafty goodness, funky jewelry, and local fashion.

Tuesday, June 23: The DC Fashionista Meetup was rescheduled from earlier this month to today at Paul Mitchell the School in McLean. Things kick off at 7:30 PM; the panel discussion is at 8—this month’s topic is “Get Noticed Now!” Go here for more details.

Wednesday, June 24: Washington designers stage a runway show for a good cause for the Stop Traffick With Fashion fundraiser. A $65 ticket gets you open bar and a glitzy fashion show at Lima Restaurant; proceeds benefit local victims of child trafficking.

Saturday, June 28: It’s a crazy-busy day in the Washington fashion world. In Alexandria, the local jewelry line Queen Bee Designs is hosting a two-day trunk show starting today with up to 50 percent off its regular prices. Get the info here.

If you love handmade items, you definitely don’t want to miss the Crafty Bastards Arts & Crafts Fair in Silver Spring. More than 50 vendors are signed up to sell their wares from 10 AM to 5 PM; we’ve spotted some really cool things in the advance line-up, including Vaya bags and Bright Lights, Little City lamps made from cocktail umbrellas. Fab!

Meanwhile, over near U Street, the funky boutique Lettie Gooch is hosting a celebrity themed shopping party from 3 to 8 PM. The event includes a trunk show from the funky Adams Morgan-based jewelry line Manu, our personal favorite for its South American-inspired, glam-chic pieces.

Still standing? Then you won’t want to miss the swank Fashion Fusion Event at the Embassy of France from 6 to 10 PM. Six local Washington and Baltimore designers will stage a catwalk show, and more than 15 top local boutiques—including Hysteria, Blu Vintage, and the Shoe Hive—will sell their wares in a mini-marketplace. VIP admission (which gives you early access to the marketplace) is $65; regular admission is $50. All proceeds benefit the Washington Area Women’s Foundation.
