Thursday, January 8: “Slip In and Slip Out With a Steal” Sale
For the month of January, Hitched (1523 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-6162) is hosting its annual sample sale of bridal gowns, veils, jewelry, and shoes, slashing prices 30 to 50 percent to make way for the 2009 collections. The sale kicks off tonight with the “Slip In and Slip Out With a Steal' soirée, where brides and their girlfriends can have the first pick of the litter—note that sample-sale items are available only on a first-come, first-served basis. Friday, January 9, through Sunday, January 11: Jenny Yoo Trunk Show
Still in search of a great bridesmaid dress? Hannelore’s of Olde Town (106 N. Lee St., Alexandria; 703-549-0387) is hosting a trunk show this weekend featuring the spring and summer 2009 bridesmaid collections by American designer Jenny Yoo. Available in fabrics from chiffon to taffeta and in an array of feminine colors, these gowns are sleek and modern. Bridesmaids who purchase during the show get 15 percent off. Note: Hannelore’s is also is in the midst of it annual end-of-year sample sale on select bridal gowns, priced at 50 percent off. Designers include Anne Barge, Monique Lhuillier, and Christos.

Saturday, January 10: Cake Tasting
Let the bridal consultants at Carey’s Cuisine (4311 St. Barnabas Rd., Temple Hills; 301-899-3885) help you design your perfect wedding cake. An assortment of cake and icing flavors will be available for you to mix and match. Choose from fillings such as lemon, vanilla, and almond, with icings from strawberry mousse to buttercream. If you book the cake company at the tasting, you’ll get $50 off orders of more than $300. RSVP required, with a limit of two guests per party. Free; 6 to 7 PM.

Sunday, January 11: Sixth Annual Fredericksburg Winter Bridal Show
Presented by the Greater Virginia Bridal Show, this event, hosted at the Hospitality House Hotel and Conference Center (2801 Plank Rd., Central Park, Fredericksburg; 540-786-8321), will bring together dozens of area wedding professionals. David’s Bridal and MW Tux will put on a fashion show, and door prizes will include cash (who doesn’t like that?) and—even better—a honeymoon for two. Participating professionals include Charlotte Parish Photography, Rockin Wayne D.J., One Thousand Words Photography, Finishing Touch Flowers, VitaNova Med Spa, Lia Sophia Jewelry, and Cakes by Karen. $5; 2 to 5 PM.
