Thursday, May 8: Time to Rock: A Bride’s Night Off From Wedding Planning Our friends at WeddingWire are throwing what sounds like an awesome party at Cafe Asia (1720 I St., NW; 202-659-2696). Appetizers, an open bar featuring a “blushing bride” drink for the first two hours, and—did we hear correctly—CUPCAKES! Plus, George Mason professor/wedding planning superstar Maggie Daniels will be there to give you tips and advice. Hey, we thought it was a night off from planning! Either way, we’ll be there, so stop in and say hi. RSVP (required) to promotions@weddingwire.com. Free; 6 to 9 PM.
R&R Catering Open House Tasting Sample food from R&R Catering at Raspberry Plain (16500 Agape Lane, Leesburg; 703-777-1888). We know—we had you at “sample food.” RSVP here. Free; 5 to 8 PM.
Lazaro Trunk Show New York bridal designer Lazaro brings his latest styles to Rizik’s (1100 Connecticut Ave., NW; 202-223-4050) through Saturday. Browse everything from slim-cut silhouettes to extravagant ball gowns. For an appointment (recommended but not required), call the salon. To submit a bridal event, e-mail mconrad@washingtonian.com.
