The younger and shorter version of me never dreamed of her wedding day. Instead, I sank into sleep with thoughts of adventure—traveling to far-off places, hiking mountains, canoeing rivers, meeting new people. Until I met my fiancé, I didn’t see marriage as a fabulous adventure. But with him it is! We’re now three months away from embarking on the most amazing adventure of our lives.

The marriage ship really starts hauling the anchor up as I walk down the church aisle on August 30. I cannot even imagine what that will be like—holding on to my dad as he leads me toward the man I’ll adventure through life with.

Let’s face it: The walk down the aisle is an adventure in itself. The Wightman Chapel, where we’re getting married, has a really long aisle made up of uneven stones. I’m going to be praying I don’t trip and fall flat on my face in front of all those people. In every wedding I’ve seen, all eyes are riveted to the bride . . . pretty scary. But putting aside those fears, lately I’ve been thinking about that walk and what should be its soundtrack.

Drew has a great friend (also a wonderful Nashville musician) who’ll be playing the grand piano. We just have to pick the perfect song for him to play. David Gray’s “This Year’s Love” or something more traditional like “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring”?
