Listen Up! Snow Edition

This week, Listen Up!, our music column, celebrates the region’s first snowfall. (Yes, we are that excited about it.) Know of any songs about snow or ones that remind you of a white winter? Let us know in the comments and we’ll add your suggestion to our playlist.

By Alejandro Salinas

Real winter weather—it’s not real unless there’s snow—finally moved into the area earlier this morning and is expected to bring with it one to four inches of snow. We were hoping for the latter, but the Washington Post has already pooped on our parade: “The winter wonderland will be fleeting . . . with the snow predicted to dissolve into sleet and freezing rain later in the day . . . .

No matter. We’ll enjoy the snow while we can, and we’ll do so with a musical playlist, of course. Below, we’ve compiled some songs about snow and wintertime. Have other suggestions? Leave them in the comments—and enjoy the winter wonderland!

This playlist is no longer available. Sorry, folks!

"Antarctica" by The Weepies is a favorite cold/snow-related song of mine.

Great suggestions, folks! Sorry it took me a little while to add them. Out playing with the snow--or something.
