Tuesday, February 17
The Hirshorn’s Meet the Artist series presents London-based Israeli artist Ori Gersht at 7. Gersht will provide a survey of his photographic and film work during an informal lecture. Stick around afterwards for coffee and conversation.

Wednesday, February 18
National Geographic’sLions & Leopards” exhibition opens today featuring photography and footage by National Geographic Explorers Dereck and Beverly Joubert. The Jouberts have spent the past two years living out of a tent and survey vehicle in the wild documenting the animals.

Thursday, February 19
Del Ray’s FireFlies Restaurant and Bar hosts local rock act US Royalty at 9.

Friday, February 20
The Freer’s Iranian Film Festival screens Santouri: The Music Man at 7 in the Meyer Auditorium. Dariush Mehrjui’s film focuses on Ali, a popular young singer and musician, who struggles with heroin addiction. The film plays again on Sunday at 3.

Saturday, February 21
John Columbus, director of the Black Maria film festival, will introduce a selection of experimental shorts and documentaries from the festival’s 2008 judging at the National Gallery of Art at 2. The films, which will screen in the East Building auditorium, include A Horse is Not a Metaphor, Ice Bears of the Beaufort, Five Days in July, Matzah Ball Eating Contest and more.

Sunday, February 22
Running out of reading materials? The Freer Gallery is offering 10% of all books in its shop and conference room. Stop by anytime between 10 and 5:30.

Sunday, February 22
Civil War historian Charles Bracelen Flood brings his newest book, 1864: Lincoln At The Gates Of History, to Politics & Prose at 5. The book is an account of Lincoln’s final full year of life.
