Peter Canellos brings his Ted Kennedy biography, Last Lion, to Politics & Prose at 7. The book, compiled from the work of various Boston Globe reporters, chronicles Kennedy’s personal rise as a disappointing member of a grand dynasty to a leader in the Senate and the patriarch of his family.

Tuesday, February 24
Cincinnati indie rockers the Pomegranates and Fredericksburg’s Tereu Tereu play a free show at Iota Club & Cafe at 8:30.

Wednesday, February 25
Swiss baritone Martin Bruns and pianist Jan Philip Schulze will perform songs inspired by the 14th-century Persian mystic Hafiz at the Freer Gallery’s Meyer Auditorium at 7:30. There will be a pre-performance tour of the “Arts of the Islamic World” collection at 6:45.

Friday, February 27
Somalian rapper and poet K’Naan will play at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage at 6.

Friday, February 27
The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh will celebrate the anniversaries of Handel, Haydn, and Mendelssohn with a performance in the Library of Congress’s Coolidge Auditorium at 8.

Saturday, February 28
The National Gallery of Art screens In the City of Sylvia in the East Building auditorium at 3:30. The film, directed by José Luis Guerín in 2007, takes place in Strasbourg over the course of three days as a young artist searches for a woman named Sylvie whom he thinks he met in the city years before.

Sunday, February 29
Grab a cup of complimentary coffee or tea and tour the 3,500 paintings inside the Luce Foundation Center for American Art at the American Art Museum. Guests should meet in the F Street Lobby of the museum at 1:30.
