Listen Up! Easter Edition

This week, Listen Up!, our music column, is all about colored eggs and the Easter bunny. Have any suggestions? Leave them in the comments.

By Alejandro Salinas

Pagans that we are, we won’t be going to church this Easter (instead, we’ll be spending the weekend in a cabin somewhere in West Virginia), but just in case we’re wrong about this Jesus thing, and to make sure we’re square with the G-O-D, we’ve decided to honor the religious holiday—in our own special way, of course.

Below you’ll find a playlist of Easter-related songs. As close as you can get anyway: Apparently, Easter doesn’t appeal to musicians the same way other holidays do. We’ve broadened the list to include symbols associated with the day, such as eggs and the Easter Bunny. Compiled among Patti Smith’s “Easter” and Emmy the Great’s “Easter Parade,” you’ll find songs from bands such as the White Rabbits and Echo and the Bunnymen. We also included tunes such as “Let’s Pretend We’re Bunny Rabbits” from the Magnetic Fields and “Egg Man” by the Beastie Boys. Have suggestions? Leave them in the comments, and we’ll add them throughout the day.

This playlist is no longer available. Sorry, folks!

I’m assuming suggesting "Rabbit Fur Coat" by Jenny Lewis would be too morbid?

How about "The Taming Of The Hands That Came Back To Life" by Sunset Rubdown to hit the resurrection theme?
