The five members of the group Broken Lizard, also known as the mad scientists behind the crass 2001 cult comedy Super Troopers, will present a smörgåsbord of performances in the Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University at 8. Expect standup, sketches, improv, original films, and a question-and-answer session. And yes, Farva will be there. Tickets are $29.50 ($23.50 for GWU students) and can be purchased here.

Tonight marks the opening standup performance by raunchfest master Robert Schimmel, who’s a regular on The Howard Stern Show. Schimmel will be in Washington all weekend at DC Improv Comedy Club. Thursday’s show starts at 8:30; he’ll also perform Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30 and Sunday at 8. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased here; there’s also a two-item minimum from DC Improv’s restaurant and bar at the event.

Friday, November 13
Identical twins Randy and Jason Sklar are on the roster at the Arlington Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse this weekend with their tag-team brand of standup. The Sklar brothers were the hosts of the TV show Cheap Seats on ESPN Classic, where the MSTK3-inspired premise garnered critical praise. There’s two shows on Friday: Doors open at 6:15 for the 7:15 performance and at 9:15 for the 9:45 show. Get your tickets ($22.45) here.

Saturday, November 14
Cedric the Entertainer, a headliner in Spike Lee’s The Original Kings of Comedy, is bringing his mellow, observation-based standup routine to DAR Constitution Hall this weekend. 8:30. Tickets ($70) are available here.

Sunday, November 15
It’s the surest evidence of the Age of Irony that Neil Hamburger has garnered a popular following: The character, played by Gregg Turkington, is an anti-comedian. Onstage, he forgoes fast, smooth comedic delivery for a shuffling, throat-clearing persona in a bow tie, plastic glasses, and oily combover. His jokes set themselves up to fail—and that’s the joke. He’ll appear with the electro-thrash band Daiquiri at the Black Cat. Tickets ($10) can be purchased online here or at the Black Cat’s box office between 8 PM and midnight. Cash only.
