Gary Valentine and his better-known brother, Kevin James, costar in The King of Queens, and they’ve appeared together in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Valentine’s observational standup routine about single-guydom is at DC Improv (1140 Connecticut Ave., NW; 202-296-7008) this weekend. Friday and Saturday at 8 and 10:30, Sunday at 8. Sure, it’s full of jokes about ignited sewage systems and super-lubricated sledding, but somehow National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation still qualifies as a holiday classic. Catch the 1989 film starring Chevy Chase—and Randy Quaid as his beyond-bizarre Cousin Eddie—at the AFI Silver Theatre (8633 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring; 301-495-6720). Five nationally recognized comedians will form the lineup for “The Raging Jews Of Comedy” at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue (600 I St., NW; 202-408-3100). Dan Naturman’s self-deprecating routine has landed him on David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, and his own Comedy Central special. Tommy Savitt was the 2008 winner of the Seattle-International Comedy Competition, and he’s a regular on the Bob & Tom radio show. Gregg Rogell won a contest for “funniest person in Long Island” and has appeared on Caroline’s Comedy Hour, the MTV Half-Hour Comedy, and VH1 Standup Spotlight as well as his own special on Comedy Central. Sundra Croonquist, a former beauty queen from New Jersey, later represented the state again as “New Jersey’s funniest female”; her comedy show, “Femmes Fatales,” is one of the longest-running female comedy showcases at New York’s Toyota Comedy Festival. The evening is emceed by comedian and show organizer Joel Marks. The show starts at 8. Tickets are $16 in advance, $20 the day of the show; click here to get them online. Subscribe to Washingtonian
