Where & When: This Week in Washington Nightlife

What to do for fun this week!

By Alejandro Salinas

Monday: Blind Side
If you’re baffled by Sandra Bullock’s recent Best Actress win at the Oscars for The Blind Side, but you’re unwilling to spend $10 to see the inspirational-yet-critically-panned movie, check this out: The film is playing at the Arlington Cinema ’N’ Drafthouse at 7:10 for just $1. Also playing tonight for the same price: Invictus at 9:50.

Tuesday: Fashion District

Ladies, start your engines, and may the best shopper win! The spring edition of the District Sample Sale happens today at 3336 M Street,Northwest. Tickets for the event are already on sale—$40 for general admission and $100 for a VIP pass, which grants you access to the merchandise an hour before everyone else. For more information, check the event’s Web site.

Wednesday: St. Patrick’s Day
The British bistro pub Againn is transforming its raw bar into a Guinness and Kilkenny beer station, with $5 draft specials. The bar will also serve $5 Irish coffees and Irish Old Fashioneds topped with Jameson. Irish fare such as corned beef and cabbage and Guinness-braised lamb shanks will be available. Festivities start at 5. For more St. Patrick’s Day parties, check out our guide here.

Thursday: Artini Night
Artini, the monthlong competition among 12 of the area’s top mixologists to create the most artistic martini—inspired by works from the Corcoran’s “A Love of Europe” exhibit—continues its feature-night series at Farmers & Fishers. Twenty percent of sales of bartender Jon Arroyo’s cocktail will go to support the Corcoran’s ArtReach program. For more information about Artini, go here.
