Where & When: What to Do Tonight

A slacker screening, ’90s divas, and Italian opera on the docket

By Rachel Tepper

Get a reminder about what made you love and loathe Pauly Shore tonight at the Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival, which is screening the ’90s slacker anthem Bio-Dome in Gateway Park. Shore’s work won him a Golden Raspberry Award in 1996 for Worst Actor, but hey—Kylie Minogue makes an appearance as the sexy Dr. Petra von Kant. 8:30.

Free your mind! En Vogue is playing the Birchmere in Alexandria both today and tomorrow. Saturday’s show is sold out, but you can still get tickets ($59.50) for tonight. We’re hoping to get a preview of the funky divas’ latest single, which reportedly will be released in September. 7:30.

Head to the Romanian ambassador’s residence (2500 30th St., NW) for a performance of Verdi’s Rigoletto by the Opera Camerata of Washington. The opera, sung in Italian, is based on the play Le roi s’amuse by Victor Hugo and tells the tragic tale of the court jester Rigoletto and his plan to take revenge on a womanizing duke. Tickets ($175) include a cocktail reception and buffet dinner. Call 202-386-6008 to reserve your seat. Cocktails at 6:30, dinner at 7, and performance at 8:30.
