By Mollie Reilly

“Cult: 10/29,” an exhibit featuring work by 18 members of the DC-based underground photography group the Cult of Frank Van Riper, opens with a reception at Social on Thursday. The evening later turns into a Halloween party, featuring face paint, cocktails, food, and a DJ. 6 to midnight. $10.

A staggering 40 percent of the world’s population lives without access to toilets. Although most baseball fans will be glued to game two of the World Series, the Anacostia Community Museum is offering a fascinating look at baseball’s history Thursday. The event is running in conjunction with the exhibit “Unequaled: Black Baseball in the District of Columbia.” Call 202-633-4844 to make a reservation. 7 PM. Free.

Can’t get enough Poe? Don’t miss “An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe” at Dumbarton House on Friday, when actors perform three 15-minute plays in and around the historic home. Gothic attire is encouraged, and there will be a cash bar as well as crepes from Napoleon Bistro. The bar opens at 6; the performances run from 7:30 to 8:30. Purchase tickets here ($10).

Whether you’re a longtime fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show or this week’s episode of Glee inspired you to see the cult classic, E Street Cinema’s annual midnight showing of the movie worth the anticipation. It’s playing Friday and Saturday with a live shadow-cast performance by Sonic Transducers. Click here for tickets ($10).

Saturday is the annual Fright Night Monster Bash at the State Theatre in Falls Church. There are three floors of dancing, two bands, and a DJ. A $300 cash prize is awarded for the best costume. 8 PM to 2 AM. Purchase tickets ($9.25) here.
