Not heading to the beach this weekend? Shop away your boredom. This Saturday from 10 to 7 and Sunday from 11 to 5, the businesses around DC’s 14th and U streets, Northwest, are offering specials and sales in this annual summer event. Besides great deals, there’ll be a “development showcase” exhibiting plans for new condos at 1436 U Street. Plus, the new farmer's market at 14th and U takes places from 10 until 2.
Here’s a selection of sales at neighborhood stores:
Habitat Home Accents and Jewelry (1510 U St., NW). All rings 20 to 50 percent off, all handbags 10 percent off.
Lettie Gooch (1911 Ninth St., NW). Early-bird special: From 10 to noon, take 15 percent off total purchase. Selected summer-sale items up to 75 percent off. Complimentary lemonade, iced tea, and cookies.
Dragonfly Design and Decor (1457 Church St., NW). At least 20 percent off everything. Select pieces up to 50 percent off.
Meeps Vintage Fashionette (2104 18th St., NW). Buy one, get one less-expensive item free (vintage items only). August 4-12.
