Buzzed: Yellow Cab at Creme
By
Marissa Conrad
Buzzed is a new feature where we scout out Washington’s most interesting drinks. This week: the Yellow Cab, a martini made with . . . . brandy?
The spot: Creme Cafe and Lounge, 1322 U St., NW; 202-234-1884. The drink: Yellow Cab (Navan vanilla-infused Cognac shaken with pineapple and fresh lime). The price: $8.
First impression: Deliciously vanilla—like drinking the scent of cupcakes in the oven.
Last impression: Somewhere on this trip, the Cognac stiffed the cabbie, leaving the (very sweet) pineapple to fend for itself. Tasty, but it could have been a glass of straight-up Dole pineapple juice. A little less sweetness and some more subtlety would have taken this Yellow Cab a long way. But it’s not worth running to flag this drink down.
Grade: B.
