March Madness: Where to Watch the Basketball Games
Basketball fans have lots of great TV to watch in March. For a change of scenery, catch some of the NCAA tournament games at one of the area’s sports bars, where multiple screens ensure that you don’t miss any action.

District Buffalo Billiards (1330 19th St., NW; 202-331-7665). Twenty-six TVs, including three huge projection screens. Call to reserve a viewing area with a group. ESPN Zone (555 12th St., NW; 202-783-3776). More than 250 TVs on three levels, including a 16-foot screen. Join the free MVP club online and reserve priority seating when your team plays. Ten-dollar food and beverage minimum a person per hour. Fast Eddie’s (1520 K St., NW; 202-638-6800; also in Fairfax, Centreville, and Springfield). Bartenders say people flee their K Street offices midday to watch their teams in the tournament on one of 34 screens. UPDATE KIPP DC, the network of public charter schools, is sponsoring their second annual March Madness event at ESPN ZONE on Friday, March 21. Attendees will partake in a silent auction, as well as a "SuperShot Challenge." Musical performances by KIPP DC students. All proceeds to benefit KIPP DC.
Maryland Black Finn (4901 Fairmont Ave., Bethesda; 301-951-5681). Three levels with 21 TVs. Greene Turtle (19961 Century Blvd., Germantown; 240-686-1800). Every four-seat booth has its own flat-screen TV at this Delaware-based chain. Union Jack’s British Pub (4915 St. Elmo Ave., Bethesda; 301-652-2561). Twenty high-definition plasma TVs and English-style pub grub. Virginia Bailey’s Pub and Grille (4233 Wilson Blvd., Arlington; 703-465-1300). This bar has 17,500 square feet of space with 48 TVs in the Ballston Common mall. Buffalo Wing University (10312 Willard Way, Fairfax; 703-273-6336). Twenty-four TVs, including projector screens and high-definition plasmas, plus 24 flavors of wings. Crystal City Sports Pub (529 S. 23rd St., Arlington; 703-521-8215). With three projection screens and 28 42-inch TVs, this bar is home base for several college alumni associations. Joe Theismann’s (1800 Diagonal Rd., Alexandria; 703-739-0777). Regulars enter the free tournament pool and watch on 13 TVs—plus three more in the men’s room.

I went by Fast Eddies yesterday after work. It was very mediocre. TV’s need a huge update, and they didn’t even play all of the games. I think they may have the local feed, but no special package. I ended up going a few blocks over to the Grand Slam in the Hyatt. Much better.

Check out Bar Louie next to the Verizon Center. The service is fast and the bartenders are great! There are lots of flatscreens everywhere and event he food is good. Try the sliders which come in several different varieties or the warm pretzels with three different dipping sauces.

Also check out Ventnor’s Sports Cafe in Adams Morgan and Cleveland Park Bar & Grill in Cleveland Park if you’re interested in catching the ACC Tourney. Great bars, TVs and food!
