Listen Up!
By
Alejandro Salinas
Listen Up! brings you songs of bands and performers coming through town in the next week. Listen up, then go check them out live.
Thursday, May 1: • The Redwalls, whose sound has earned the Chicago quartet comparisons to the Beatles, play at DC9 in support of their latest, self-titled album.
Friday, May 2: • The Kills are at the Black Cat tonight. The band’s track “Sour Cherry,” featured on Gossip Girl, is nothing short of sleazy, sexy, and bitchin’—just like Blair Waldorf herself.
Saturday, May 3: • We can’t stop raving about Jukebox the Ghost. The band joined us earlier this week for a chat and will be playing the Black Cat.
• Also at the Black Cat for a show that same night: Travis Morrison and his band the Hellfighters as well as NYC indie pop band the XYZ Affair. The XYZ Affair is known for its catchy guitar solos and danceable songs, so expect an insanely energetic show. Also, don’t forget to check out our chat with Travis Morrison the day before the concert.
• British rock band South performs at the Rock and Roll Hotel tonight. The mellow track “Better Things,” off of their album You Are Here, is currently a radio staple.
