Rather stay home and make a great margarita? Check out our video recipe from the folks at Oyamel on how to make their signature margarita.
Monday, May 5: Lima Lounge (1401 K St., NW) gets in on the Cinco de Mayo action with free salsa lessons, free drinks for women from 9 to 11 PM, and free admission for the evening. The fun starts at 6 PM.
Georgetown spot Mie N Yu (3125 M St., NW; 202-333-6122 ) is hosting Tequila Five Ways, a tequila-cocktail lesson. From 5:30 to 7, learn how to create five different tequila drinks, as taught by one of the restaurant’s sommeliers. Tickets are $35.
Silver Spring spruces up for a Cinco de Mayo celebration that takes over Ellsworth Drive this evening. From 5 until 9, Austin Grill (919 Ellsworth Dr.) will host a “Mexican beer garden” as well as crafts and raffles. UPDATE The Rock and Roll Hotel (1353 H St., NE; 202-388-7625) has $3 Coronas and a special South of the Border food menu tonight. A DJ will spin reggeaton jams all night, and—oddly enough—a guitar signed by the Canadian band Sum 41 will be given away. 7:30 to 9:30.
• Cinco de Mayo at Velvet Lounge (915 U St., NW; 202-462-3213) translates to $2 Tecates and $4 shots of Jose Cuervo. Also, reggae band Nayas performs, and I&I Vibrations, a group of local DJs, spins. Show starts at 9:30. More>> After Hours Blog | Arts & Events | Happy Hour Finder | Calendar of Events
