Where to Get Halloween Costumes in Washington

A costume is one of the most important parts of Halloween—besides the candy, of course. Some people rent or buy lavish costumes for the night, while others choose the do-it-yourself route. Whether you’re looking for something classic or original, these spots will help you pull a costume together.

Although it’s known for its party materials, Party America (18036 Mateny Rd., Germantown; 301-515-8980) also has many options for costumes and materials for all ages.

Backstage (545 Eighth St., SE; 202-544-5744), on Capitol Hill, is DC’s theatrical superstore, with costumes and accessories for all ages.

Costumes Creative (9168 Brookville Rd., Silver Spring; 301-587-6275) has extended its hours this month to allow shoppers more time to choose from more than 15,000 costumes in stock.

Gene’s Costumes (10636 Connecticut Ave., Kensington; 301-949-4111) has a wide variety of costumes, accessories, and makeup and is a good shopping spot for the whole family.

Halloween Scene is a chain of stores dedicated to everything Halloween-themed. You’ll find a wide variety of costumes and accessories at any of its Marlyand and Virginia locations (call 866-266-2968 for addresses).

Hollywood East Costumes (493 S. Stone St., Rockville; 301-424-2687), formerly Pat’s Costume, has one of the largest selections of adult costumes in the area.

At Party City (295 Kentlands Blvd., Gaithersburg, 301-926-8227; 6000 Greenbelt Rd., Greenbelt, 301-441-2220; 3311-3319 Corridor Marketplace, Laurel, 301-490-1192), you’re likely to find a costume that fits your body as well as your style.
