Round Three: Where to Watch the Final Presidential Debate

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. No, not the election—the last presidential debate. On Wednesday, October 15, CBS’s Bob Schieffer hosts from Hofstra University as Senators John McCain and Barack Obama tackle domestic-policy issues at their last meeting before citizens head to the polls. Wrap up your debate viewing by watching from one of these hot spots.

McCain and Obama supporters are welcome at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College to tune in. Head to room 147 on the first floor of the Bisdorf Building. Free food and drinks will be provided for NOVA students. 8 PM.

Head to the Greene Turtle to watch Obama with the Greater Laurel-Beltsville Democratic Club. The club asks that you RSVP.

Enjoy free ice cream during the debate at Rituals Cafe in Silver Spring. Don’t forget to RSVP.

Young Latino Professionals invite you to Habana Village to support Obama during the final debate. Network from 7 to 8:40, and then listen in on a conference call with Latino leaders until the debate begins. Drink specials will be available as well as giveaways.

Grab a Bud Light for $1.75 or Smithwick’s Irish Ale for $3.25, and enjoy the candidates going head to head for the last time at Hawk ’n’ Dove.

Join Obama supporters from the Monument Precinct at Champps Restaurant & Bar in Fairfax at 7:30. Sign up to volunteer and RSVP here.

Try some red, white, and blue drinks at the 1331 Bar in the JW Marriott hotel. If watching the debate isn’t fun enough, test your political knowledge and presidential history with Filibuster Fun Facts and Trivia cards that will be placed in the lounge.

Treat yourself to $1 tacos at Capitol Lounge and get your fill of domestic policy during the debate.

Crystal City Sports Pub hosts a quad state debate-watching party from 8 to 11. Watch the debate with constituents from each of the candidates’ home states. Members of the Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, and Illinois state societies party for free, but nonmembers are invited too—for $15. Be one of the first 150 RSVPs, and enjoy free appetizers and two drink tickets. RSVP by e-mailing debate@azstatesociety.org or purchase tickets here.

Head to 18th Amendment to watch the debate and enjoy $10 sangria or $12 margarita pitchers.

Left Bank Bistro Lounge will serve $5 mixed drinks and $6 martinis.

How many times will McCain say “my friends” or Obama say “fundamental?” Shots are $1 at Ventnor Sports Cafe when a candidate utters your word of choice.

George Washington University invites you to watch the debate in the Continental Ballroom of the campus’s Marvin Center with the college Republicans and Democrats. The event is free and open to the public.

Check out Stetson’s Famous Bar & Grill to watch the debate with a large politically savvy crowd. Arrive early to grab a good spot.

The Arlington County Democrats will gather to watch the debate at Bailey’s Pub & Grille. The party starts at 8 and costs $10, which includes a drink of your choice.

Enjoy $1 off beer, wine, and liquor at Timberlake’s American Bar & Grill. The bar fills up fast, so arrive early to guarantee a seat in front of a TV.

Arrive at Bullfeathers early for a good seat, and take advantage of $3 Coors Light drafts, $3.25 house wines, and Stoli drinks for $3.50.

B. Smith’s will serve up more Obama Bahama Mamas and McCain mojitos during the final presidential debate, and a lucky viewer will take home a gift certificate for dinner for two at the restaurant.

Enjoy half-price wine by the glass all night at Lounge 201 on Capitol Hill.

Play a game of pool while watching the debate, or watch Red Derby’s big screen at the bar.

Euphoria Bar and Lounge will have 10-cent wings during the debate. Linger afterward and discuss the candidate’s talking points.

Cafe 1612 on U Street will have an LGBT debate-watching party starting at 8:30. There will be free appetizers and drink specials at the bar.

Busboys and Poets in Arlington will show the final debate on two screens.

The Arlington County Republicans and the Arlington/Falls Church Young Republicans will set up shop at the Holiday Inn in Ballston. The party starts at 7:30, and an RSVP is preferred.

The Conservative Democratic Alliance, in cooperation with Summers Grill & Sports Pub in Arlington, is hosting a nonpartisan debate-watching party at 7:30. The pub will be divided into two sections, one for each party, with the Republican side’s televisions tuned to Fox News, while the Democrats’ televisions will be tuned to CNN. Each room has a 100-person capacity, and it’s first-come/first-served, so get there early.

The Prince William County Republicans will watch the debate from L&B’s Pizzeria in Woodbridge. Guest speakers include Jeff Frederick, chair of the Republican Party of Virginia. Party starts at 8.

The Alexandria City Republicans will host their debate-watching party at the Hilton Mark Center at 8:30.

Stop by Marvin for a meet and greet with editors and writers of The Root, an African American-interest Web magazine. Watch the debate in drive-in style as it's projected from the rooftop on the wall of the building next door. The event starts at 8 and is free.

Experience a presidential debate as you have never experienced it before! ReConstitution is a live audiovisual remix of the 2008 presidential debates. This nonpartisan hybrid of video art and performance exposes the themes, content, and structure behind the sound and images of the debate. This concept is the brainchild of three media artists who form the group, Sosolimited. Comprised of three MIT graduates, Sosolimited has performed and installed work internationally and has garnered a number of awards and accolades throughout the art world. ReConstitution 2008 will be presented in Boston and New York in conjunction with the first and second presidential debates; their appearance at the Corcoran marks the final stop of the ReConstitution 2008 tour. A reception precedes the presentation.
