Hundreds of washingtonian.com readers came out to enjoy food, drinks, and a spectacular view of the city at Thursday's first-ever Washingtonian.com reader happy hour. Not even the the threat of rain could put a damper (get it? get it?) on the food from Columbia Heights restaurants like CommonWealth, Pete's Apizza, the Heights, and Potbelly's, or the free Bacardi Rum drinks. And people couldn't stop raving about the view from the rooftop of Columbia Heights' Highland Park Apartments. Enjoy photos from the event below!

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
