Listen Up! Election Day Edition

This week, Listen Up!, our music column, celebrates election day. Your voice matters! Tell us what songs—election-themed or otherwise—you’d like to hear.

By Alejandro Salinas

It’s election day, and we can’t think of a better way than to celebrate this momentous occasion in our democracy’s history than by allowing you, dear reader, to tell us what song(s) you’d like to listen to today. That’s right, you decide. So exercise your right (to party!), and tell us what you want on our playlist in the comments. We’ll be adding recommendations throughout the day.

To start the playlist, we’ve added a couple of  election-themed songs, as well as artists or bands either Obama or McCain have said they listen to. Enjoy, and don’t forget to drop us a line in the comments.

This playlist is no longer available. Sorry, folks!

The Rocky theme song. That’s about as triumphant as it gets. (I’m thinking positively for Obama!)

I listened to "Talkin’ ’bout a Revolution" by Tracy Chapman this morning, and, if you’re feeling pessimistic, "Up With Fists" by Jenny Lewis.
