The only thing that bothers me about Viva Terra is that it knows me too well. You think you are special and creative with your carefully calibrated design tastes, and then some online store puts a bazillion objects that you love in one place. And yet, here I am, ever so excited about the dining and kitchen sale that runs until next Thursday. I am deeply in love with this $32 Wine Decanter, although I’m suspicious that it would be hard to clean. The Flowered Enamelware pitcher, now $38, looks like the perfect thing to deliver Pimm’s Cups or Mint Juleps on a hot day.
I wish I had noticed Company Store’s wire stools before they ran out of the large version. They look like they would be extremely versatile (footstool, night stand, side table), and the small one is very nicely priced, at $34.99, down from $89. It caught my eye because it is so similar to the Link side table at CB2, which is much pricier for $149.
Meanwhile, if you haven’t taken a look at Room and Board in a while, now’s a good time to do that. I like the solid wood pieces because they will always be in style and will gain character as they age. Think of all the board games that could be played on the Andover coffee table. It’s $799, down from $999.

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
