Extreme Home Makeover Bethesda Edition
By
Mary Clare Fleury
Every year, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry recognizes outstanding projects with its Contractor of the Year Awards. Rockville-based Danish Builders took home the regional (7 state) "COTY Grand Winner" award in the $500,000 to $1 million category for popping the top off this drab, one-level house in Bethesda and transforming it into a two-story Post-Modern home.
The original house, built in 1951, was 1,200 square feet—the remodeled house below is 3,072 square feet, with nearly half of the space on the second floor.
What do you think? Is it worth the $500,000 to $1 million-dollar price tag?

I think it looks like a diner.
Posted by: K-Lo,
I think there is a little too much modern design going on here, not sure if anyone else feels the same way?
Posted by: Ben,
I love it. I think more people should do this. Everyones house should look different.
Posted by: Bobby,
I like it. It's original.
Posted by: Julie,
I like the design, personally, but I'm not sure it fits in with the REST of lovely Bethesda. This one's a far cry from the painted brick...
Posted by: Monica,
I am glad to see a tear-down in Bethesda that looks different from all other boring cookie cutters.
