The Metropole Opens with Glitz and Glam
Got a million bucks lying around? The Metropolis Development Company hopes you do.

After some delay, the seven-story Metropole in Logan Circle opened its doors to the public last night with as much flash and glamour as can be mustered for an open house. The Metropolis Development Company called in some old friends for the preview—including Humphrey Bogart and John Wayne, displayed in full black-and-white cardboard—to help launch its “Golden Age of Hollywood” theme. Spotlights on the corner of 15th and P streets helped direct foot traffic to the building, where two life-size Oscar statues flanked the front entrance.
After passing through the sea of salesmen and indulging in complimentary champagne and hors d’oeuvres, guests were steered towards the elevators. On the second floor, three condos were open for walk-throughs: an $824,900 one-bedroom, a $960,900 two-bedroom, and a $1,082,000 two-bedroom. Fifty-four of the 90 units have already sold. Fitted with high unfinished ceilings, platform rooms, and multiple levels, the condos emphasize space and style. Most units come with balconies that overlook the surrounding Logan Circle neighborhood.
Guests were impressed by the architecture, but most balked at the high asking prices—and questioned how long they would hold.

Well, I’m in the building and it’s a great place to live.
I’ve never met Scott Pannick and am not affected in the slightest by Metropolis Development (which is reportedly dissolving). So while I’m sorry that some people signed contracts and then had trouble getting out for whatever reason (some legit, others really not), please don’t hate on the building because you feel slighted by the developer.

Don’t bother checking out the units. This place is terribly over priced and nobody is buying these units. They have been on sale since 2005 and less than 1/3 are sold and of those several people are suing to get out of the contract. I know because I am one of those people. Metropolis Development has zero integrity. CEO Scott Pannick has several lawsuits pending and may declare bankruptcy soon. He’s a jerk and a thief.
