Inauguration Aggregation

Happy Friday. . .er, Wednesday, Washington! We're ready to begin our turkey gorging, but not until we give you today's must-read inauguration headlines.

By Emily Leaman

Will DC college students be joining the ranks of money-raking Washingtonians and renting out their dorm rooms for the inauguration? Not a chance, college officials say.

Obama's inaugural committee will cap donations at $50,000 in hopes of limiting the influence of private money on the government, the New York Times reports. Inaugural committees for previous presidents have accepted single donations of as much as $250,000.

Last week, military officers interviewed for coveted positions as VIP escorts for the inauguration, says the Washington Post. Apparently, it's a months-long process to pick officers for the job.

Here's an idea: If you can't get tickets to the actual inauguration, try getting a peek at one of two dress rehearsals for the event. No VIPs will be present, but you can always Photoshop Obama into your pictures later.

Inaugural excitement. Plutocratic rents. What the market will bear. Makes you think.
And students who rent to an unvetted stranger may indeed be endangering themselves or others. When things wrong they can go very wrong.
