New York Philharmonic Maestro Puts Inauguration Rental on the Market

Quick! Grab 40 to 50 of your closest friends and pool your money for this once-in-a-lifetime experience: The New York Philharmonic’s music director Lorin Maazel and his wife, Dietlinde Turban-Maazel, are offering their Castleton, Virginia, estate for $50,000 a night during the inauguration. The money will be donated to the Maazels’ nonprofit, the Châteauville Foundation, an organization that helps train young performance artists.

The estate, which can accommodate up to 50 guests, includes several top-notch facilities: a pre-Civil War manor house that features a king-size master suite with a Jacuzzi tub and two fireplaces; a carriage house with a king-size master bedroom, living room, two bathrooms, and a balcony; the Pink House with two master suites and a Jacuzzi tub; two private cottages; the two-bedroom Bluebird Haven house; and more. Guests can make use of a spa complex with a large heated swimming pool, a Turkish steam room, and a Finnish sauna. There’s also a theater room with a commercial-size movie screen, a bowling alley, and a petting zoo—yes, a petting zoo.
