Obama Honors Military with Inaugural Ball
By

Published Friday, January 02, 2009
The Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) announced yesterday that Barack Obama will host the Commander-in-Chief inaugural ball. The event, which honors active duty and reserve military, first cropped up on the inaugural circuit in 2005, when President George W. Bush hosted it.
This year's soirée will be held on January 20 at the National Building Museum, the same venue Bush chose four years ago. The event is invitation only, and tickets for invited guests—which will include wounded soldiers, families of deceased soldiers, and spouses of deployed military—will be provided free of charge. >> All Washingtonian.com inauguration news More>> Capital Comment Blog | News & Politics | Society Photos

I’m wondering how to get these invitations. My husband is active duty Marine Corps...been to Iraq 3 times. I’m also an Army Veteran. I would be honored to attend the ball that honors military personnel. I think it’s awesome that people remember us. If there’s any way my husband and I can get tickets, I’d be forever grateful!
Thank you!

The inaugural ball at the Old Post Office Pavillion had to be cancelled due to presidential needs for the building (the Secret Service has to stash equipment there). You can see Chuck Brown at City Hall for $51 or the Clones of Funk (9 pm to midnight) at The Scene, 2221 Adams Place NE for $25 cover charge.

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
