I’m a little confused by some of the commenters on here saying that Russert is throwing this party for his friends. If that were the case then they’d be right to say that we shouldn’t criticize him for it, but instead it looks like he’s sending out an open invitation for a party that he or someone else will make a profit on. He also appears to be trying to gain publicity for himself through it. Sure there are lots of serious DC people that throw events, but this event appears to be neither private nor serious. And that wouldn’t matter, except that Russert seemed at least initially to be trying to portray himself as a political journalist in his father’s mold. Besides, whatever your opinion of the guy, that invitation is just freaking funny, period.

It is not just the party. It is the obvious attempts he has made to get on tv, no matter what the reason. Being a kid or a young guy is no excuse for a lack of professionalism. He obviously prefers fame over journalism and the frat boy style invitation to celebrate the most important event that ever happens in the DC area is ridiculous.

This was written about a public news figure who is slowly throwing away his credibility, while LBA slings insults towards a journalist pointing out his ridiculous actions. Your insults may have very well be aimed towards a "kid" just like party boy Luke, but they seem to have enough sense to know what is overboard and what isn’t.
