MTV Inaugural Ball is Scrapped

We got news late yesterday that MTV's Be the Change Inaugural Ball has been canceled. Janice Gatti, an MTV spokesperson, said in an email that the youth-oriented bash planned at the Ronald Reagan Center has been canned.
"Instead," she writes, "we will be broadcasting from another DC location for our television program, which will air January 20th at 10pm." Details have yet to be released.
The Washington Post's Reliable Source fills in one tidbit, reporting that network will broadcast from one of Obama's official inaugural balls. Our guess: The Youth Ball. Rights to televise that event have yet to be snatched up. >> All Washingtonian.com inauguration coverage

Gone are the robust bureaus for the Los Angeles Times, Newhouse News, and other once-healthy news organizations. Digital media bureaus now are taking their places with as many reporters and plenty of swagger.
