They have designated areas to cross the street. This is for everyones safety and those that choose to skirt the law and cross when and where they feel like put everyone in danger. For goodness sakes, use the cross walk! As far as police issuing tickets to jaywalkers this is there job. They are there to inforce laws...try following the rules and you won’t get a ticket.

Sarah you did not cause the accident the person not paying attention to stopped traffic did. I have received a ticket and it’s ridiculous...unfortunately a vacationing family followed and got tickets also. Tickets should only be given when a pedestrian is witnessed doing something hazardous or that interferes with traffic flow.

I have not been giving a ticket, but I did cause an accident because I was jaywalking one time. I was trying to cross a busy street and an old lady stopped in the middle of the road to let me cross and then got rear-ended. Jaywalking is definitely hazardous!
