Meet the love of your life while waiting in the iPhone line, but didn’t get the number? Sometimes Cinderella isn’t so kind as to leave a glass slipper.
Enter: Craiglist’s Missed Connections. Listed among the other personals, the feature lends a helping hand to users who may have met that special someone at Starbucks, but were too shy to get the digits. Lovestruck users leave their e-mail address, hoping that pretty face will respond. Longshot? You betcha. Entertaining reading? Oh, most definitely.
Here’s a look at some of the best posts from the DC area this week, from the romantic to the funny and everything in between.
Route 7, Silver Accord - m4w - 24 (Route 7) Reply to: pers-755296116@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-14, 9:36PM EDT Hey, Im not sure if you will ever check this out but figured I would give it a shot. You were driving next to me on route 7 towards sterling and we both where making eye contact. I didnt want to take my exit because i was having fun flirting with you. I dont know what you thought of me but since I got home I have not been able to stop thinking of you. I hope you see this. * Location: Route 7
Alright, you may have met “the one,” but please keep your eyes on the road from now on.
14th St NW Late afternoon Mon. - m4w (14th and S ish) Reply to: pers-755212641@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-14, 8:25PM EDT I was riding my bicycle south on 14th, while stopped at a light I exchanged several glances with a beautiful blond haired woman walking north. I’m tall (6’4”), I was wearing shorts, a gray t-shirt, a red bike helmet and a bright yellow bike bag. I might be tempted to believe in the existence of some type higher being should you see this and respond. My salvation is in your hands. * Location: 14th and S ish
You better respond. One click could save his soul. In cashier line at Safeway around 4:30p Tuesday - m4w - 24 (Bethesda/Arlington road ) Reply to: pers-756585321@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-15, 8:29PM EDT You gave me this look when I bought a Washingtonian Magazine, and smiled. You then said have a great day. I wished you had hung around! * Location: Bethesda/Arlington road
Look at us, bringing people together. Couldn’t help the shameless self-promotion.
Reply to: pers-754019294@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-14, 12:31AM EDT Well I have to say that when I saw you from across the platform my heart skipped a beat. You were standing there with your long brown hair and those radiant brown eyes. As the trains passed between us you we exchanged looks and for a moment I felt as electric as the third rail.I may have missed the connection while I was at the station but this time I want to make sure that this train is one I am not late for. Write me back and next stop will be romance. * Location: Courthouse
I bet if you make a couple more Metro puns, she’ll respond. Yeah, that’ll work.
LOOKING FOR MICHAEL SHELL - w4m Reply to: pers-759183548@craigslist.org Date: 2008-07-17, 6:04PM EDT Looking for a gentleman by the the name of Michael Shell. Mike stands about 6’4”, he would graduated from McKinley Tech, possibly in the year of 1965-66. An avid pinnocle player and former vet. Simply the kindest, most gentle human being that I have ever encountered. If anyone can help me locate this person, I would greatly appreciate it. Somewhere out there...

I’d love to meet an avid pinnocle player. And does "former vet" refer to military service or veterinary medicine? Just curious.
